Dark, upturned lashes have a timeless and alluring ability to bring out the speechless beauty in any person’s eyes. However, it can require a lot of daily maintenance to keep your lashes looking that way with mascara and curler clamps in the mix every morning.
What is Lash Lift and Lash tint?
A lash lift alters the shape of your natural lashes, while a lash tint alters the color of your natural lashes. As such, a lash lift and lash tint involve two separate processes, wherein the lash lift curls the lashes upwards, and the lash tint makes the lashes appear darker, fuller, and thicker.
How long does a lash tint last?
Depending on the individual’s lash growth cycle, the length of time that a lash tint lasts will vary from person to person. With that being said, last tints have been known to last up to four weeks. The dye used in lash tints is permanent; as such, the lash tint does not fade after treatment. Instead, the lash tint will last as long as the lashes remain, which means that repeat sessions are often needed to maintain results once the new lashes replace the old ones.
How long does a lash Lift last?
The length of time that a lash lift will last vary depending on how quickly your lashes grow and regenerate. As such, the average length of time that lash lifts last is approximately four to six weeks. However, some patients find that results last up to eight weeks.
How does the Lash lift procedure work?
The lash lift procedure works using a chemical solution that makes the lashes more malleable so that their shape can be altered. The chemical solution is applied to the lashes with the eyes closed to protect the eyes. Pads are also placed on the eyelids for further protection.
Before the solution is applied, your lash lift provider may place a silicone rod on the eyelid to curl the lashes over and attach them using an adhesive. Your provider will then apply the lifting solution or lotion to allow the lashes to mold over the silicone rod. The lifting solution is left to absorb into the lashes for approximately 12 minutes. If the silicone rod is not used before the lifting lotion, the lashes will be lifted and curled after the lotion is applied. Finally, a setting lotion or solution is applied to solidify the lashes in place.
In total, a lash lift procedure takes about 45 minutes to one hour to complete. After the procedure, it is generally recommended to avoid mascara, makeup remover, steam, water, or any other eye makeup from coming into contact with your lashes for around 24 to 48 hours. With that being said, your provider will inform you of all of the aftercare instructions required for a lash lift procedure.
While there are at-home lash lift kits, they are not recommended due to the use of chemicals with this procedure. As such, it is important to have a lash lift performed by a medical aesthetician to avoid adverse effects on your eyes or skin. A medical aesthetician can administer this treatment safely and effectively, as they are highly skilled and professionally trained to do so.
