What is Intense Pulsed Light

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, aka photofacial, is a way to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. It can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure, called photoaging. Our IPL device has four filters to help treat a number of skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation, vascular lesions, improving acne and hair reduction.

How it Works

IPL uses light energy to target accurately and remove pigmented damaged skin cells or hair follicles.  Using a handheld device, our medical professional will target multiple wavelengths of light onto the skin. This light heats cells in the skin and breaks them down. The body then removes the damaged tissue naturally.

Results

The effects of an IPL Photofacial are gradual. You will begin to see a changes within a week to 10 days for the face, for other treated areas changes may be seen within 6-8 weeks.

For patients to get the best IPL results, it is generally recommended that patients receive, on average, 4 – 6 treatments scheduled four weeks apart
